OT Cybersecurity Intern at Leidos
The Leidos Cyber Accelerator is at the forefront of redefining methods, technologies, and scalable solutions for operational technology (OT), control systems (ICS), and critical infrastructure. We are actively seeking a cybersecurity intern to contribute to our significant OT cyber projects.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong passion for supporting unique research and development initiatives, from prototyping to the ultimate deployment of products and solutions for our customers. In this role, you will collaborate with junior and senior engineers and research scientists who specialize in machine learning, cybersecurity, IT, reverse engineering, and Cyber AI. Success in this position requires experience in areas such as industrial control systems, cybersecurity, and an understanding of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can enhance OT industries.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist researchers, engineers, and program management directly with advanced research and development of modern technologies and capabilities focused on protecting critical infrastructure sectors.
- Aid in the continuous operation, expansion, and enhancement of multiple lab environments that accurately replicate key industries.
- Work independently and as part of a team to develop documentation and strategy materials, supporting business development, subject matter experts, and leadership in comprehending the unique cybersecurity challenges faced by critical infrastructure and Leidos's capabilities to address them.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with 0+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with common cybersecurity concepts, frameworks, and approaches for designing secure systems (e.g., NIST, MITRE, CMMC).
- Proficiency with some scripting and/or programming languages, tools, and techniques (e.g., PowerShell, Zsh, Python, C++).
- A novel understanding of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning technologies and capabilities.
- A strong, self-motivated desire to learn about the challenges facing Operational Technology environments in applying cybersecurity principles to their unique contexts, including Industrial Control Systems.
- Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance, requiring US Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong familiarity with multiple operating systems, including those specific to embedded or other industrial devices (e.g., LINUX, Windows IoT).
- Knowledge of industrial control system protocols and functions used in at least one major industrial sector.
- Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint).
