OT Cybersecurity Intern at Leidos
The Leidos Cyber Accelerator is at the forefront of redefining methodologies, technologies, and scalable solutions for operational technology (OT), control systems (ICS), and critical infrastructure. We are actively seeking a talented cybersecurity intern to contribute to our critical OT cyber projects.
This role is ideal for a candidate who is passionate about supporting unique research and development efforts, from initial prototyping to the eventual deployment of our products and solutions to customers. You will collaborate closely with junior and senior engineers and research scientists, gaining exposure to expertise in machine learning, cybersecurity, IT, reverse engineering, and Cyber AI. The successful candidate will bring experience in areas such as industrial control systems, cybersecurity, and an understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) can enhance OT industries.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist directly with advanced research and development of modern technologies and capabilities focused on protecting critical infrastructure sectors, working alongside researchers, engineers, and program management.
- Aid in the continuous operation, expansion, and enhancement of multiple lab environments that accurately replicate key industrial sectors.
- Work independently and as part of a team to develop documentation and strategy materials that support business development, subject matter experts, and leadership in understanding critical infrastructure cybersecurity challenges and Leidos's capabilities to address them.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with 0+ years of experience.
- Experience with common cybersecurity concepts, frameworks, and approaches to designing secure systems (e.g., NIST, MITRE, CMMC).
- Proficiency with some scripting and/or programming languages, tools, and techniques (e.g., PowerShell, Zsh, Python, C++).
- A novel understanding of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning technologies and capabilities.
- A strong, self-motivated desire to learn about the unique challenges facing Operational Technology environments in applying cybersecurity principles, including Industrial Control Systems.
- Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance – US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong familiarity with multiple operating systems, including those unique to embedded or industrial devices (e.g., LINUX, Windows IoT).
- Knowledge of industrial control system protocols and functions used in at least one major industrial sector.
- Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint).
