OT Cybersecurity Intern at Leidos

The Leidos Cyber Accelerator is actively redefining approaches to building methods, technologies, and scalable solutions for operational technology (OT), control systems (ICS), and critical infrastructure. We are currently seeking a highly motivated cybersecurity intern to significantly contribute to our ongoing OT cyber projects.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong passion for unique research and development efforts, from initial prototyping to the eventual deployment of our products and solutions to customers. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively alongside junior and senior engineers and research scientists who specialize in machine learning, cybersecurity, IT, reverse engineering, and Cyber AI. A successful candidate will bring experience in areas such as industrial control systems, general cybersecurity practices, and a keen understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) can effectively enhance various OT industries.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist researchers, engineers, and program management directly with advanced research and development of modern new technologies and capabilities focused on protecting critical infrastructure sectors.
• Aid in the continuing operation, expansion, and enhancement of multiple lab environments that accurately replicate key industrial sectors.
• Work independently and/or as a team member to develop comprehensive documentation and strategic materials to support business development, subject matter experts, and leadership in understanding the unique cybersecurity challenges critical infrastructure faces and how Leidos's capabilities can effectively address them.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master’s or Doctorate degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with 0+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience with common cybersecurity concepts, established frameworks, and structured approaches to designing secure systems (e.g., NIST, MITRE, CMMC).
• Practical experience with various scripting and/or programming languages, tools, and techniques (e.g., PowerShell, Zsh, Python, C++).
• A novel understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies and their capabilities.
• A strong, self-motivated desire to deeply learn about the challenges facing Operational Technology environments when applying cybersecurity principles to their unique requirements, including Industrial Control Systems.
• Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance, requiring US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong familiarity with multiple operating systems, including those specific to embedded or other industrial devices (e.g., LINUX, Windows IoT).
• Knowledge of industrial control system protocols and functions utilized in at least one major industrial sector.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint).
