Junior Data Engineer
Lensa is partnering with Insight Global to promote a job opportunity for a Junior Data Engineer. This role is with a large US-based logistics and transportation employer seeking to expand their data analytics team.
About the Role
The Junior Data Engineer will be instrumental in understanding business needs and assisting in the development of sustainable data solutions. This position focuses on integrating new lines of business into the data analytics function. Key responsibilities include managing the full data engineering lifecycle, from gathering requirements to building, testing, and maintaining data pipelines and reporting solutions.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the full life cycle of data engineering.
- Gather requirements from internal customers.
- Build data pipelines.
- Perform testing and reporting on data solutions.
- Maintain data solutions.
- Support escalation tasks and system development.
- Help automate processes and maintain internal systems.
- Assist in data modeling.
- Transform data into valuable business insights using growing expertise in company-specific data structures.
Key Skills and Experience
- 2-5+ years of data engineer experience.
- Strong Azure Data Factory (ADF) experience, including creating pipelines from scratch and knowledge of connectors/activities.
- Proficiency in SQL scripting, particularly for implementation within ADF.
- Understanding of the full data engineering life cycle.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal and external customers.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with Python or Spark (basic scripting and reviews).
- DevOps experience is a plus.
- Data Bricks experience is beneficial.
- Background in Logistics is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Agile Methodologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms, specifically Azure.
