Job Description
Full Stack Developer
Penguin Random House is seeking a Full Stack Developer to join their dynamic and agile development team. This role is open to remote candidates in the United States who can work Eastern Time hours. The developer will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of modern web applications, working across the stack with a focus on React/JS, Java or Python, and SQL. Familiarity with DevOps is also expected.
About the Role
In this position, you will collaborate with small development teams to drive business growth. You will build, test, deploy, and iterate on technology products serving both internal and external users. This includes leveraging front-end (web/mobile), back-end, cloud services (AWS), and DevOps practices for continuous improvement and automation. You will also support legacy systems and transition them to modern architectures, while communicating effectively with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of modern web applications.
- Build, test, deploy, and iterate on existing and new technology products.
- Leverage front-end, back-end, cloud services, and DevOps practices.
- Support legacy systems and transition them to modern architectures.
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Apply creative problem-solving and sound judgment.
Qualifications
- 3 or more years of professional software development experience preferred.
- Proficient in front-end technologies like React/JavaScript.
- Experience with back-end development in Java or Python.
- Familiarity with SQL and database fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of modern web standards, accessibility, and security.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and frameworks.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with GitHub Copilot or Claude Code is a plus.
