The Ascension Data Science Institute (ADSI) Internship Program offers a valuable on-the-job learning opportunity within a large healthcare environment. This program focuses on providing "real world" work experience, supporting leadership with data-driven insights that deliver significant value to those served by Ascension. The objective is to foster an environment where interns can develop essential skills and competencies to become successful professionals and potential Ascension associates.

Role Overview: Data Science Intern

This is an exceptional opportunity to learn from and collaborate with the Data Science team within ADSI. We are seeking a proactive individual capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team on various projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and construct new prototypes utilizing advanced algorithms, predictive models, and custom analysis techniques.
• Collaborate with department leaders and team mentors to develop comprehensive project plans and timelines.
• Gain practical experience in manipulating and validating data from diverse sources, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
• Analyze complex datasets, applying your curiosity and expertise to meet project objectives and uncover additional valuable insights.
• Present final project findings to team members, data science leadership, and potentially clinical stakeholders.
• Acquire hands-on proficiency working with Google Cloud Platform, Python, or other preferred analytic tools.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma equivalency OR enrolled in an accredited program specific to the discipline is required.

Additional Preferences:

• Strong technical skills, particularly in writing efficient queries, manipulating large datasets, and visualizing data effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to identify patterns and provide actionable insights from underlying data.
• Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and thriving in "start-up" environments.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience with statistical software such as R or Python, and database languages like SQL.
