About the Ascension Data Science Institute (ADSI) Internship Program

The ADSI Internship Program provides an on-the-job learning experience aimed at gaining practical work experience in a large healthcare environment. Interns will support leadership with data-driven insights that deliver value to those served by Ascension. The program is designed to foster skill development and cultivate successful professionals.

What You'll Do as a Data Science Intern

• Design and construct new prototypes using algorithms, predictive models, and custom analysis.
• Collaborate with department leaders and team mentors to develop comprehensive project plans and timelines.
• Gain hands-on experience manipulating and validating data from diverse sources.
• Analyze data with curiosity and expertise to achieve project objectives and uncover additional insights.
• Present final project findings to team members, data science leadership, and potentially clinical stakeholders.
• Work with leading technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Python, or other preferred analytic tools.

What You'll Bring

Education:

• High school diploma equivalency OR
• Enrolled in an accredited program specific to the discipline is required.

Additional Preferences:

• Strong technical skills, particularly in writing queries, manipulating data, and data visualization.
• Demonstrated ability to identify patterns and provide valuable insights from underlying data.
• Comfort working effectively with ambiguity and in “start-up” environments.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate findings and collaborate effectively.
• Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Python) and database languages (e.g., SQL).
