Data Protection Analyst Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Protection Analyst to strengthen our ability to protect sensitive information, ensure compliance, and defend against evolving cyber threats. In this role, you will design, implement, and manage data protection strategies and work closely with IT, Security, Compliance, and Privacy teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage data protection and DLP solutions.
- Collaborate with Data Privacy and Compliance teams for regulatory adherence (HIPAA, PCI, GDPR, etc.).
- Investigate, respond to security incidents, perform forensic analysis and remediation.
- Monitor and optimize data protection technologies for improved risk management.
- Develop and maintain security playbooks, policies, and procedures.
- Partner with IT and Security Operations to detect and respond to threats.
- Contribute to risk assessments, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Research emerging attack methods and recommend effective technologies.
- Advise project teams on secure data handling, encryption, and access control.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years in data security, information protection, or cybersecurity engineering.
- Experience with data classification, DLP, and cloud security tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Microsoft DLP, CASB).
- Strong grasp of cybersecurity principles including encryption and risk management.
- Proficiency in incident detection, digital forensics, and incident response.
- Understanding compliance frameworks and regulations related to data security.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, or Security+.
- Prior experience in a SOC or SIRT environment.
