Job Description
We are looking for a Cybersecurity Analyst responsible for helping execute the Maritime Cybersecurity strategy and program initiatives relating to dry dock operations. The role will serve as a coordinator and subject matter expert to peers and leaders across the client shipboard lines of business regarding maritime cyber risks. This position will be full-time and remote.
The role will be an individual contributor providing cyber risk management and assurance expertise so that systems located within or connected to the client shipboard environments consisting of Operational Technology (OT) navigation/bridge, marine engineering, IT hotel operations systems, and onboard entertainment systems (ET), are protected and maintained, adhering to maritime cybersecurity guidelines and corporate information security standards. This key position will influence IT and maritime business units to ensure project alignment for all aspects of dry dock efforts and related upgrades are inclusive of cyber security requirements.
What You'll Do
- Key contributor to the upgrade of shipboard IT and OT systems and processes to appropriately reduce existing and emerging risks to the client maritime assets as they enter and leave dry dock.
- Leverage information security activities and technologies to raise cyber situational awareness and protection.
- Ensure that maritime cybersecurity technology intended to protect shipboard systems and information is configured and operating per established standards.
- Update technical standards, architectural/engineering diagrams, and procedures for shipboard and newbuild I.T. and marine operations units regarding how to securely configure and implement IT, ET, and OT technology.
- Define and track assigned remediation tasks to ensure that shipboard IT, ET, and OT vulnerabilities and defects are mitigated in a timely manner to reduce risk to systems and information.
- Where potential system weaknesses are identified, partner with other team members within Information Security, I.T. and business units to implement compensating controls.
- Review, interpret and explain complex maritime cyber guidelines and future regulations such as BIMCO Cybersecurity Guidelines for Ships, U.S. Coast Guard security requirements, and International Maritime Organization (IMO) to peers, IT management, IT staff, and non-technical team members as required to drive improve understanding, awareness, and adoption.
- Establish and manage relationships with engineering and operational staff within I.T, Marine Operations, Newbuild, Global Security and relevant business units and third party marine and IT shipboard suppliers to assess their cyber assurance program and ensure that there is an effective understanding of responsibilities within their areas.
- Contribute with a high degree of self-sufficiency and resourcefulness individual and departmental performance objectives.
- Demonstrate a high degree of motivation to maintain technical skills and cybersecurity knowledge relevant by seeking self-development opportunities such as industry certifications, investing time to learn new skills, and networking with peers in the security industry.
- Actively engage in liaison activities with maritime industry associations, peer institutions, regulatory and contractual agencies/organizations and IS information sharing communities.
Qualifications
Educational
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field.
- Degree in Scrum & Agile Software development Methodology.
- Internship in a similar role in a medium size organization.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Rapid7 and Fortinet (FortiAnalyzer) for data extraction and visualization.
- Proficiency in the use of analytic tools like Power Bi, Tableau.
- Ability to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Ability to work with large teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
Work Environment & Travel
Candidates may be required to travel up to 25%. Position would require some travel to visit ships. Our normal business hours are 9 am - 6 pm EST M-F. All candidates must be available to work those hours during the first six months.
