Job Summary
The Compliance Specialist - Privacy supports privacy-focused compliance activities and initiatives as part of Ascension's National Privacy team. This role reports to a Compliance Director - HIPAA Privacy and involves collaborative work with other Ascension Compliance leaders and team members.
Responsibilities
- Conducts and supports the investigation and resolution of privacy incidents reported through the Values Line, ministries, and from other methods, in collaboration with other Compliance leaders, team members, and legal, as appropriate.
- Assists with coordination and follow-up of audits and investigations conducted as part of the compliance privacy monitoring program.
- Assists with the development and implementation of HIPAA and other Federal or State privacy policies and procedures, including consent forms and notices.
- Assists with the creation of system-wide and targeted compliance training and education programs and initiatives related to privacy matters.
- Prepares and analyzes privacy related tracking reports and metrics.
- Pursues knowledge of rules and regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, state privacy laws) that impact specific ministries and the organization.
- Identifies opportunities and supports efforts to build a culture of compliance.
- Supports the HIPAA Privacy vertical with projects and programs as needed and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Candidates for the Compliance Specialist - Privacy position should meet the following educational and experience criteria:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR an Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Highly preferred is 5 years of experience in healthcare privacy compliance.
