The Breakfast Cook Role
The Breakfast Cook reports directly to the Chef and is responsible for ensuring that fresh, high-quality, consistent, and varied breakfast options are served punctually to clients. You will be tasked with preparing and cooking breakfast according to requirements, ensuring all meals meet the company's highest standards and are served on time.
This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring drug, alcohol, and fit-to-work testing as a condition of employment.
The role involves a remote work lifestyle within a camp setting, offering the following amenities:
- All meals and accommodations provided
- Travel provided to and from Edmonton Airport
- Private room with cable television
- Access to Wi-Fi
- Access to laundry facilities and detergents
- Access to a gym and common areas
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Prepare breakfast menu items as approved by the Chef.
- Set up a fruit bar for breakfast as per the designated list.
- Prepare breakfast sandwiches with bacon, ham, or sausage and egg.
- Cook eggs to order as requested by clients.
- Prepare vegetables and meats for an omelet bar.
- Create breakfast specials such as Blueberry pancakes, Eggs Benedict, Waffles, and crepes.
- Prepare RTE (Ready-to-Eat) Containers from leftover products for the lunchroom.
- Set up and take down the steam table.
- Assist with kitchen clean-up, including garbage disposal and floor cleaning.
- Clean and sanitize all work areas, including work surfaces and equipment.
- Assist with putting away groceries.
- Maintain a clean and organized cooler and stock area.
- Provide professional, courteous guest service at all times.
- Check and document temperatures of coolers and freezers.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Chef.
- Cook breakfast items from scratch as required.
- Mix and cook pancakes.
- Prepare all breakfast ingredients.
- Prepare breakfast items such as sausages & bacon.
- Ensure breakfast menu and quantity are prepared as per Chef requirements.
- Serve at the breakfast line and provide the highest level of customer service.
- Be responsible for overall food presentation and portioning.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room and overall kitchen.
- Ensure health and safety regulations and quality standards are maintained, including dating all items.
Working Conditions
- Project-based role with primary work in Nunavut; flexibility for remote work when not on-site.
- Ability to work long shifts and rotational schedules (e.g., 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off or similar).
- Endurance to function effectively in remote northern climates, including extreme cold, wind, or lack of daylight during specific periods.
- Resilience under isolation conditions—long periods away from home with limited external contact.
- Fly-in/fly-out arrangement; shared accommodations and meals provided while on-site.
- Extended periods away from home with possible weather-related travel delays.
- Must comply with all company and client health, safety, and operational standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience providing a hot breakfast service in high volumes is required.
- Current Food Safe certificate is required.
- Large-scale cooking experience in camp settings, banquet halls, and/or hotels is a strong asset.
- Red Seal or other certifications is an asset.
- Experience in accurately producing weekly inventories.
- Experience with producing baked goods (scratch baking and/or pre-fab items) is an asset.
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
- Ability to pass the Drug and Alcohol and Fitness Test is required.
- A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction.
- Must have valid government-issued photo ID for travel to site.
- Be able to handle the following physical demands: Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs; Climb ladders or stairs; Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time; Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands; Perform work with arms at full length; Work with arms above shoulder height.

Work Schedule and Remuneration
Breakfast Cooks work on a rotational schedule of 4 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring air travel to site. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting rate of $21 per hour.
