As a Billing Specialist III, you will utilize your knowledge of insurance regulations, health insurance contracts, medical coding, and bookkeeping to perform a variety of crucial revenue cycle support activities. This includes ensuring data accuracy within the practice management system, processing claims, managing payments, and resolving billing discrepancies.

The estimated base pay for this role ranges from $18.17 to $29.04 hourly. The final offer will be determined by your skills, experience, and qualifications. This position is also eligible for a quarterly bonus, which is awarded based on both company and individual performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the practice management system by accurately entering data, verifying and updating insurance, and claims information.
  • Handle carrier correspondence, manage EOBs, and key payments received into the system.
  • Prepare, review, submit, and follow up with clean claims to various companies/individuals.
  • Collect, post, and manage patient account payments.
  • Investigate rejected claims to understand denial reasons and facilitate corrections.
  • Ensure swift payment of invoices by sending patient invoices, billing reminders, and making collection calls for outstanding balances as directed.
  • Review and provide weekly and monthly RCM reports, including productivity and financial reports, completing necessary action steps.
  • Adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines when accessing and sharing patient information, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Provide timely and professional customer service, resolve patient billing issues, and answer questions from patients, facility staff, and third-party vendors.
  • Support additional coding, billing, and practice management projects as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To succeed in the Billing Specialist III role, candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one year of billing experience is preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of revenue cycle processes, medical insurance, and general accounting principles.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects, meet deadlines simultaneously, identify and resolve exceptions, and interpret data.
  • Proficient in data entry.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
