Role Summary

The Assistant Controller Revenue at Coinbase is a critical role within the finance team focusing on overseeing and optimizing revenue recognition processes in a dynamic crypto environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead application of ASC 606/IFRS 15 for crypto transactions.
  • Develop and maintain robust revenue recognition and reporting processes.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recording and compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
  • Oversee month-end and quarter-end close processes, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Collaborate across teams for proper revenue accounting treatment of new products.
  • Improve revenue systems, processes, and controls using blockchain data and automation tools.
  • Implement and monitor SOX compliant internal controls over revenue cycles.
  • Support audit requests and stay current with evolving accounting standards.
  • Manage and mentor the Revenue team and participate in special projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA is required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with 4-5 years in revenue recognition.
  • Deep understanding of ASC 606/IFRS 15 and GAAP/IFRS compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex accounting guidance.
  • Experience with SOX compliance, ERP systems and advanced Excel; data visualization is a plus.

  • Experience in high-growth startups or technology companies.
  • Familiarity with crypto accounting software or blockchain analytics tools.
