About the role
Lancashire County Council is the fourth largest local authority in England. As the Highway and Traffic Authority, they maintain over 1800 bridges and 70km of highway retaining walls. The Engineer - Highway Operations and Design will play a key role in highway infrastructure development and regeneration across Lancashire.
You will join a vibrant and growing team, identifying and developing design solutions on bridge and highway structure projects including new build, strengthening, and maintenance projects. Candidates should have civil engineering knowledge, relevant qualifications, and experience with design standards and specifications.
The role requires good communication skills, a customer-focused delivery approach, and a willingness to learn and develop, along with experience in assisting project delivery.
Working Environment
This permanent full-time position (37 hours per week, pro rata) is based primarily at County Hall, Preston. The role features a flexible working arrangement combining office and remote work. Attendance at meetings and site visits is essential, requiring a valid driving licence and a vehicle (or appropriate considerations for disabilities).
