Technical Program Manager, Release & Production at LayerX Security
LayerX Security is seeking a Technical Program Manager to take ownership of how product changes are introduced into production across the LayerX platform. This pivotal role operates at the nexus of engineering execution, product delivery, and production quality. You will be instrumental in defining and operating the processes that govern the planning, validation, and introduction of releases into production, while simultaneously maintaining clear visibility into the production state and potential customer exposure.
The position demands a strong technical understanding, a keen sense of operational ownership, and the ability to effectively coordinate across engineering, QA, DevOps, and product teams. Your efforts will ensure that all releases are predictable, safe, and clearly communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Release Process & Governance
- Define and continuously evolve release processes and production readiness standards across the LayerX platform.
- Establish clear release readiness criteria, quality signals, and validation expectations for production releases.
- Improve deployment safety and rollout strategies as the system scales.
- Ensure releases are comprehensively evaluated from both engineering and customer impact perspectives.
- Release Coordination
- Coordinate production changes across diverse components, including backend services, browser extensions, infrastructure, and configuration updates.
- Ensure all releases adhere to defined processes, validation steps, and operational guidelines.
- Track upcoming releases and maintain a clear operational view of what is going to production and its timing.
- Align engineering, QA, DevOps, and product teams on release readiness and deployment schedules.
- Production & Customer Visibility
- Maintain continuous visibility into how releases impact different customer environments and deployment surfaces.
- Track customer exposure through various deployment channels, configurations, and feature flags.
- Own visibility into production exposure across backend services, browser extensions, and endpoint components.
- Maintain awareness of different customer tiers and their tolerance for change, ensuring release and rollout decisions reflect customer risk profiles.
- Represent the customer perspective in release readiness discussions, ensuring stability and experience expectations are met for all customer segments.
- Help internal teams understand what has changed, what is currently changing, and which customers may be affected.
- Release Tooling & Automation
- Drive improvements in tooling and automation specifically around release processes and production visibility.
- Build or extend internal workflows that connect release information across critical systems such as Slack, GitHub, and Jira.
- Improve release communication, enhance release visibility, and streamline release notes generation.
- Help create superior operational visibility for both engineering and customer-facing teams.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify existing gaps in release processes, testing coverage, and deployment safety.
- Drive significant improvements that increase overall release reliability and reduce production risk.
- Help evolve LayerX release practices as the system and customer base continue to scale.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, Release Management, or Engineering Operations roles.
- Proven experience coordinating releases across complex software systems.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and production environments.
- Experience working collaboratively with engineering, QA, and DevOps teams.
- Strong operational mindset and a demonstrated ability to drive cross-team execution.
- Ability to deeply understand system behavior and evaluate releases from a customer impact perspective.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with endpoint products, client-side software, or security agents.
- Background in cybersecurity or infrastructure-heavy systems.
- Familiarity with staged rollout strategies, version channels, or progressive deployments.
- Experience building automation or internal tooling around release processes.
- Experience working with engineering collaboration tools such as GitHub, Slack, and Jira.
