Job Overview
The Junior Software Developer will be part of the Cloud Integration and Applications team within the Information Technology Solutions Division. Under guidance from senior team members, you will design, develop, and support cloud-based applications with both frontend and backend components, including AI integration, governance, and security enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Provide computer science and software development support using industry standard practices.
- Develop and maintain applications while supporting full software development lifecycle.
- Engage with developers and administrators to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Learn and apply best practices and continuously update technical skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance eligibility (U.S. citizenship required).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with modern programming languages (Python, JavaScript, C#, Java).
- Basic knowledge of design, coding, and testing practices.
- Familiarity with AWS, serverless architectures, and CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps.
- Understanding of backend and frontend frameworks such as .NET and Angular.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team collaboration and adaptability in evolving environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS WorkSpaces and APIs.
- Exposure to secure, scalable systems design.
- Demonstrated initiative in learning new technologies and team projects.
Additional Information
This is a Career Indefinite position open to both Lab employees and external candidates. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing work from home one or more days per week, along with benefits such as flexible schedules, relocation assistance, 401(k), education reimbursement, and more. A pre-employment drug test and adherence to mobile device policies in Limited Areas are required.
