Legal Operations Manager

Latitude is seeking an experienced Legal Operations Manager to support the in-house legal department of a large, nonprofit healthcare system serving multiple communities throughout Northern California. This is an exciting opportunity for a legal operations professional who enjoys building efficient processes, leveraging technology, managing complex projects, and serving as a strategic business partner to an in-house legal team.

The organization is seeking a highly organized and proactive professional who can quickly integrate into the department, take ownership of critical initiatives, and independently move projects forward. Candidates may work fully remotely (WFH) from within the United States, although a hybrid arrangement is available and preferred for candidates located near the Northern California office. This opportunity offers a high likelihood of converting from contract-to-permanent hire for the ideal candidate.

Basic Requirements For The Legal Operations Manager

  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations, legal department administration, contract management, project management, or a related function
  • Experience supporting attorneys, paralegals, and in-house counsel within a healthcare, hospital, or other highly regulated environment strongly preferred
  • Experience managing legal technology platforms, including contract lifecycle management (CLM), matter management, document management, legal research, or related systems
  • Demonstrated success improving legal department operations, workflows, processes, templates, and service delivery models
  • Strong project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, metrics, and analytics related to legal operations, contracts, risk, workload, turnaround times, and departmental performance
  • Experience managing relationships with outside counsel, legal vendors, and legal technology providers
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with enterprise collaboration and workflow tools such as SharePoint, SmartSheets, Epic, or similar platforms preferred

Responsibilities Of The Legal Operations Manager

  • Oversee day-to-day legal department operations, including matter intake, workflow management, prioritization, tracking, and reporting
  • Manage and optimize legal technology platforms, including contract lifecycle management (CLM), document management systems, legal research tools, and related applications
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve legal department processes, templates, playbooks, standard operating procedures, and best practices
  • Coordinate contract management operations, including intake, assignment, tracking, reporting, auditing, and data quality oversight
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison with outside counsel and legal vendors regarding billing, performance metrics, service expectations, and operational matters
  • Support legal budgeting, forecasting, spend management, invoice review, and vendor performance monitoring
  • Develop dashboards, reports, presentations, and key performance indicators related to legal workload, contract volume, turnaround times, risk trends, outside counsel utilization, and departmental efficiency
  • Provide project management support for strategic legal initiatives, system implementations, audits, regulatory responses, investigations, litigation support efforts, and cross-functional projects
  • Assist with implementation, revision, communication, and training related to legal policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Lead legal department onboarding, training, knowledge management, and document governance initiatives
  • Partner closely with Compliance, Risk Management, Finance, Information Technology, Procurement, and operational leadership on enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, scalability, and service delivery across the legal function
  • Help establish and maintain a best-in-class legal operations infrastructure capable of supporting a growing healthcare organization

Compensation

Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $120,000 to $140,000 or more when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).

Benefits

Benefits: Latitude contract professionals are usually W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week. Benefits-eligible Latitude contract professionals receive complimentary Group Life, LTD and AD&D. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
