Job Description

Role Overview: Biotech Contracts Manager

Latitude is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Biotech Contracts Manager to oversee and manage the commercial contracts activity of a life sciences research organization on a fully remote engagement basis. The organization focuses on the design and sale of antibodies to healthcare facilities and pharmaceutical companies for use in their drug development. These transactions require specific complex agreements to be in place prior to the transfer of the antibodies. Interested candidates should have at least 5+ years of experience handling complex life sciences agreements with research institutes and/or biotech/pharmaceutical companies, including material transfer agreements. In-depth knowledge and understanding of contracts and academic collaborations within research institutions and biotech/pharma companies is a must.

Key Responsibilities for the Biotech Contracts Manager

  • Track progress and report status of contracts; serve as liaison between the company and external legal counsel to ensure projects stay on track; be the point person for workflow within the organization.
  • Serve as primary point of contact with external technology transfer offices and legal counsel.
  • Collaborate with outside legal counsel to standardize core contracts (MTA, NDA, partnership agreements, etc.) to reduce overall contracting time.
  • Provide direction and guidance to various members of the leadership team regarding contract terms and conditions that should be escalated to outside legal counsel for review and follow-up, versus what can be agreed upon or negotiated without the involvement of outside legal counsel.
  • Collaborate with catalog program management to reconcile MTAs outside their core workflow; tackle any MTA requirements outside of the company’s standard templates.

Requirements for the Biotech Contracts Manager

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of contracts and academic collaborations within research institutions, biotech/pharma companies.
  • Prior experience working with research institutes and/or biotech/pharma companies in the area of contracts and academic collaborations.
  • Formal education as a paralegal.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Sound business judgment regarding when and who to involved in various contract matters.

Position Details of the Biotech Contracts Manager

Type of Role: Engagement

Schedule: Part-time

Location: Fully remote

Compensation

Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $80,000 - $95,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).

Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage for work or acts or omissions provided within the scope of a Latitude-authorized engagement. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
