APAC Legal Counsel Part-Time Remote

Latitude is assisting a global multinational company in identifying an experienced lawyer to provide versatile, pragmatic, and business-oriented legal support across the APAC region. This is a highly collaborative role that will work closely with regional business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders on a broad range of commercial, corporate, compliance, regulatory, and operational legal matters impacting multiple jurisdictions throughout APAC.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a dynamic international business environment and serving as a trusted advisor to the business. This role requires a lawyer who can balance legal risk with commercial realities, provide practical and solutions-oriented guidance, and effectively support both day-to-day operations and longer-term strategic initiatives. The position will involve managing a diverse mix of legal work, including commercial contracting, regulatory and compliance matters, corporate governance support, legal risk management, and coordination with external counsel across the region where needed.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for a lawyer who enjoys working closely with business teams, navigating cross-border legal issues, and partnering with stakeholders across different cultures, jurisdictions, and functions. The company is seeking someone who is adaptable, responsive, and capable of independently managing a varied legal workload while building strong relationships with internal teams throughout the APAC region. Singapore-qualified lawyer preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including supplier agreements, sales agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other general commercial contracts.
• Provide practical and risk-balanced guidance to support business objectives while protecting the company’s interests.
• Deliver timely, commercially focused, and actionable legal advice to business teams across the APAC region.
• Partner with country leaders and allied functions on day-to-day operational matters, strategic initiatives, and business growth opportunities.
• Monitor and advise on legislative, regulatory, and industry developments that may impact the business and eye lens industry.
• Reinforce internal legal and compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Identify, assess, and proactively manage legal and regulatory risks.
• Support the management of legal disputes and coordinate with external counsel where required.
• Assist with corporate governance matters, including statutory filings and ensuring compliance with internal governance requirements and applicable corporate regulations.
• Collaborate extensively with country leaders and cross-functional teams located across the APAC region.
• Work closely with and report directly to the Regional APAC Legal Counsel.

Qualifications

• Singapore-qualified lawyer preferred, with a degree from an accredited law school.
• Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, including both top-tier law firm and in-house counsel experience.
• Strong foundational knowledge across a range of legal disciplines, including commercial contracts, corporate law, employment matters, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.
• Mandarin or Thai language capabilities are considered a plus.

Position Details

• Type of role: Engagement (Temp to Perm)
• Schedule: Part-Time (16 hours per week)
• Location: Fully remote – must be able to support APAC hours

Compensation

The annualized pay for this position ranges from $165,000 to $225,000+ when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).

In addition to pay, all Latitude Attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
