Intermediate Controls Engineer
Join LAPORTE L.C.C., a consulting engineering firm with 25 years of business and 25 offices across North America and Europe. We are seeking a full-time controls engineer to contribute to designing, programming, and managing automation projects primarily in the pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the design of automation projects using Allen-Bradley PLC/PACs and FactoryTalk View ME/SE HMI and SCADA.
- Translate process and packaging applications into detailed construction packages including schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Mentor and supervise project team members to enhance collaboration and execution.
- Provide lifecycle project support from design through commissioning.
- Perform site surveys and hands-on installation support.
- Ensure adherence to relevant codes such as UL508A and NEC.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel, typically 1-3 day site visits with extended commissioning trips (20-40% travel overall).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 2-6 years of experience in control systems and automation projects.
- Experience in commissioning systems, ideally as a lead.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Rockwell Automation software (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000), and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
- Ability to prepare electrical construction packages and to survey existing control installations.
