Intermediate Controls Engineer

LAPORTE L.C.C. is seeking a full-time Intermediate Controls Engineer to join our expanding team in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a hybrid work arrangement. The role primarily focuses on the design, programming, and management of automation projects in the pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support design of automation projects and control panels.
  • Develop specifications for control panels, networks, and software using Allen-Bradley PLC/PACs and FactoryTalk View ME/SE for HMI and SCADA.
  • Translate process or packaging applications into detailed construction packages including drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules.
  • Mentor and supervise project team members to enhance collaboration.
  • Provide lifecycle support: system design, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning.
  • Perform site surveys and offer hands-on support during installation and control system deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with codes like UL508A and NEC.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2-6 years of experience in control systems, manufacturing, or consulting-design environments, preferably in a lead capacity.
  • Proficiency in automation project design, control panel/network design, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation software—Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000 and FactoryTalk View ME/SE.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical construction packages and field surveys.
