On Call Recipe Developer

The Culinary Center at Land O'Lakes, Inc. is seeking flexible, on-call recipe developers to support recipe development and product testing for retail, food service, and K-12 initiatives. This role is perfect for a culinary professional who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with both the creative and technical aspects of test kitchen responsibilities.

Position Details

• This is an on-call, part-time position, working approximately 5-15 days per month with no guaranteed hours.
• Typical daytime hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Work is performed on-site at the Culinary Center in Arden Hills, MN.
• Scheduling depends on project timelines and business needs.
• Pay rate: $40.00 - $70.00 per hour, based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and test recipes aligned with project objectives, product strategy, and end-user needs.
• Follow the established recipe development process from concept to finalization, including multiple test rounds.
• Write clear, accurate, and repeatable recipes, adhering to style guidelines (ingredients, steps, yield, headnotes, etc.).
• Visualize finished recipes for photography and video, considering composition, styling, and appetite appeal.
• Prepare and organize food for photo and video shoots, executing final recipes for tastings and production days.
• Provide recipe and food details for pre-production decks, storyboards, or shoot planning documents.
• Collaborate with Culinary Center Team members, project managers, and technicians to meet timelines and quality standards.
• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Strong culinary foundation from a professional kitchen, test kitchen, catering business, or similar environment.
• Demonstrated experience in recipe development, testing, and documentation.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to clearly document work digitally.
• Comfort working with Microsoft Office programs, spreadsheets, and shared documentation tools.
• Ability to translate a recipe concept into a finished, visually compelling dish.
• Interest in both the science and artistry of cooking, including flavor development and execution.
• Ability to taste, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback on recipes and products.
• Reliable availability during standard business hours as projects require.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with pre-production planning for food content.
• Background in food styling or visual food presentation.
• Experience in a corporate culinary or product development environment.
• Experience supporting food photography or video shoots.
