Staff Software Engineer (Android)

For our client, we are seeking a Staff Software Engineer (android) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will lead technical initiatives focused on scalable systems, platform reliability, and meaningful business transformation. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a regulated financial services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $188,000 – $230,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the architectural roadmap for Android applications
• Lead cross-functional projects to modularize code and enhance UI with Jetpack Compose
• Ensure the stability and performance of hospitality software under high-pressure conditions
• Mentor junior engineers, promoting quality code and robust testing practices
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to align technical investments with business goals
• Enhance developer workflows through improved CI/CD and testing processes
  
  

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, with extensive Android app development experience
• Deep expertise in Kotlin, including coroutines and structured concurrency
• Proven ability to design and evolve large multi-module Android applications
• Strong grasp of Android architecture patterns like MVVM and Clean Architecture
• Experience managing complex local data and achieving offline-first sync
• Skilled in diagnosing and resolving performance issues across system layers
• History of leading cross-team technical initiatives with influence
