Counsel, Regulatory Affairs
For our client, a leader in the Media space, we are seeking a Counsel, Regulatory Affairs. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering positive outcomes for customers and stakeholders within the dynamic Media industry. You will collaborate extensively across various functions and take ownership of critical priorities, enjoying significant visibility, growth opportunities, and direct impact.
This is a remote position open to US-based candidates only; visa sponsorship is not available. Compensation ranges from $230,000 to $322,000 annually.
Responsibilities
- Manage and respond to global regulatory inquiries concerning the company's products.
- Engage in proactive discussions with government bodies and regulators, emphasizing compliance readiness and negotiation strategies.
- Analyze new regulatory proposals to assess business impact and advocate for necessary legal changes.
- Provide expert legal advice to ensure stringent compliance with applicable laws across the US, EU, and other international regions.
- Serve as the primary legal expert on online platform regulation, ensuring consistent guidance and interpretation across the legal team.
- Act as a proactive legal advisor, guiding product and business teams through anticipated future regulatory challenges.
Qualifications
- Hold a Law degree (JD, LLB, LLM) and be licensed to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction; experience in multiple jurisdictions is highly valued.
- Possess 5+ years of substantial legal experience, ideally gained at a top-tier law firm or in-house, with a minimum of 3 years specifically focused on product counseling or regulatory affairs.
- Demonstrate a strong background in global platform compliance laws, particularly in areas such as data protection and child safety.
- Proven ability to effectively advise on regulatory readiness within fast-paced, product-centric environments.
- Exhibit exceptional legal drafting and writing skills, with a strong emphasis on clarity, precision, and simplicity.
- Experience collaborating directly with regulators, especially within Europe, is considered essential.
- Ability to effectively manage and foster strong relationships across diverse internal teams and geographical regions.
