Job Description

Assistant General Counsel, Digital Assets

For our client, a leader in the Business Services space, we are seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Digital Assets to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in delivering outcomes for customers and stakeholders in the rapidly evolving Digital Assets sector. You will collaborate cross-functionally and take ownership of critical priorities, gaining significant visibility, growth potential, and impact.

This is a fully remote position, open to US-based candidates only, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on product structure, issuance strategy, and legal risks as the lead legal partner to the Digital Assets Pillar.
  • Provide guidance on the issuance and integration of new digital assets and features.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure compliant asset custody and on-chain settlement frameworks.
  • Support legal considerations for new initiatives such as pricing models and multi-asset strategies.
  • Review and draft internal policies, external disclosures, and terms of use.
  • Act as a senior legal stakeholder in roadmap planning to identify legal blockers early.

Qualifications

  • JD or equivalent with active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 12+ years of legal experience, including time at a top-tier law firm and in-house counsel roles.
  • Deep experience advising fintech and/or crypto companies on product development.
  • Proven experience launching novel financial or crypto products in fast-paced environments.
  • Involvement in asset issuance, custody, or smart contract design in Web3 or DeFi contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with product, engineering, risk, and compliance teams.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to distill complex legal issues into actionable guidance.
