The Role
As a Database Administration Expert, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, configuring, and maintaining databases while ensuring security, performance, and availability. You will manage backups, recovery, monitoring tasks, troubleshooting, system updates and provide support to developers and users. This role includes hybrid work with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote along with participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
- Deploy new databases using best security practices.
- Support production environments ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with detailed root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with Developers and Architects for tailored configurations.
- Create and update documentation for installations, changes, and upgrades.
- Train Junior Engineers in database administration practices.
- Contribute to service improvement through scripts and automation.
- Maintain clear communication and a positive attitude.
Technical and Professional Requirements
Minimum experience: 4–5 years administering Oracle Database (19c, 12c), Microsoft SQL Server (2012, 2019, 2022), MongoDB (v4 to v7), PostgreSQL (12, 13, 16), and ElasticSearch (7, 8). Additional valued experience includes MySQL, MariaDB, middleware systems, task automation (shell scripting, Ansible), backup systems (TSM, Commvault) along with proven expertise in ASM and disk volume management, High Availability/Disaster Recovery architectures, monitoring tools (Zabbix and Nagios), and cybersecurity fundamentals.
Languages and Education
Languages Required: Spanish (Intermediate), English, Catalan. Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
