Senior Cloud Engineer at Kroll

The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for continuing to build and maintain the organization's cloud-based platforms. This engineer will ensure efficient implementation of technologies to meet business and market requirements while maintaining a strong focus and adherence to security policies. The Senior Cloud Engineer will work closely with the solutions architects and will be assigned to work with one or more development project teams. All Kroll employees are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the Kroll Values.

This role focuses on building and maintaining cloud platforms, ensuring efficient technology implementation aligned with business needs and stringent security policies. Collaboration with solution architects and development project teams is key.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and manage end-to-end solutions within Amazon AWS and Azure Cloud environments, with a strong focus on system and data security.
  • Automate and deploy cloud infrastructure such as VPCs, Security Groups, EC2s, RDS instances, ECS clusters, AWS Load Balancers, API Gateway, etc., in support of approved initiatives.
  • Support SCRUM teams within an Agile development environment.
  • Work with Solutions Architects, Development Architects, and third parties to produce technical design documents outlining the solution's architecture.
  • Translate business and application requirements into robust infrastructure solutions.
  • Ensure all selected technology conforms to Kroll’s long-term technical strategy.
  • Become a central point of understanding for the end-to-end technical architecture of the concerned solution.
  • Build IT Infrastructure solutions utilizing new and existing IT capabilities and services.
  • Support and build cloud compute, network, and storage systems, demonstrating a strong understanding of fundamental technologies.
  • Provide after-hours support as required for system outages, updates, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Identify and modify processes to improve efficiencies in the support and monitoring of production applications.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Essential Traits

  • 6+ years of experience building, maintaining, and monitoring cloud environments, proprietary applications, Windows & Linux platforms, Kubernetes, and container technologies.
  • B.S. Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • AWS & Azure certifications are preferred, along with hands-on technical experience.
  • 5+ years experience in the following Technology Areas:
    • Cloud-native technologies, PaaS & SaaS solutions within AWS & Azure.
    • Automation technologies (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager).
    • Broad understanding of enterprise-class technologies and a holistic view of IT infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise with AWS Aurora and Oracle Databases.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with large-scale client-facing online systems.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Amazon AWS, Windows, and Linux-based technologies.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform.
  • Experience with IBM QualityStage is an asset.
  • Ability to integrate with development teams to understand application landscapes and interfaces to IT systems.
  • Ability to work and adapt in a dynamic environment, recognize priority issues, and escalate accordingly.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, experience creating standards and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project group, managing time constraints effectively.
  • Strong customer service orientation; organizational and communication skills, positive and can-do attitude.
  • A broad understanding of enterprise-class technologies.
