The Team

We are seeking a Senior Designer, Data Experimentation & AI, to play a crucial role in shaping how Kraken builds, evaluates, and scales its products. This is a highly autonomous, senior Individual Contributor (IC) role focused on experimentation and continuous improvement. Our team is obsessed with products, valuing clarity, craft, and outcomes, with an open and trusting culture that encourages candid feedback to continuously raise the bar. You will take ownership of complex, ambiguous design challenges at the intersection of data, experimentation, and machine intelligence, working end-to-end from prototyping, iteration, and delivery. The Opportunity

• Drive measurable improvements in key customer and business metrics (e.g., conversion, activation, retention, task success) through design-led experimentation.
• Run design experiments, partnering with data, product, and engineering teams to define hypotheses, success metrics, and evaluation frameworks.
• Design and iterate on customer-facing experiences across Kraken’s trading, onboarding, and account surfaces based on experiment results and user insights.
• Apply AI selectively and responsibly to improve personalization, decision support, and usability, with a clear focus on outcomes and user trust.
• Own design quality and experiment performance, taking accountability for learnings, trade-offs, and results, not just outputs.
• Influence product strategy by translating experiment insights into clear recommendations and next steps.
• Balance speed and rigor, enabling rapid experimentation while maintaining high standards of UX, accessibility, and brand consistency.
• Contribute actively to design reviews and experiment readouts, sharing insights that raise the effectiveness of design and experimentation across teams.
• Continuously identify new opportunities where experimentation and AI can unlock customer or business value.

Skills You Should HODL

• 5+ years of experience with a proven ability to design, test, and iterate customer-facing experiences across web and mobile, ensuring consistency and quality across platforms.
• Strong UX and UI fundamentals with the ability to simplify complex data, experimentation, or AI concepts into clear, usable experiences.
• Highly product-savvy, able to frame problems, prioritize opportunities, and design solutions that drive measurable customer and business impact.
• Experience designing for data-informed products, including dashboards, analytics tools, experimentation platforms, or decision-support systems.
• Confidence working in ambiguity, framing problems, and defining solutions in partnership with cross-functional teams.
• A data-informed design approach — able to balance qualitative insight, quantitative signals, business goals, and technical constraints.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and defend design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Expert level prototyping skills, able to use tools and techniques to quickly explore, test, and communicate ideas.
• Understanding of human-centered design principles, research methods, and ethical considerations, especially as applied to AI-driven products.
