Job Description

Senior Digital Forensics Consultant

At KPMG, you’ll join a team of diverse and dedicated problem solvers, connected by a common cause turning insight into opportunity for clients and communities around the world.

KPMG’s Forensic Technology group is actively seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Evidence and Discovery Management (EDM) team. Our practice specializes in assisting public and private sector organizations, law firms, corporate legal teams, and investigation departments with end-to-end support in managing electronic evidence across the digital investigation lifecycle. From initial identification and acquisition to preservation, analysis, and presentation, we uphold the highest standards to ensure the integrity and admissibility of electronic evidence in both legal and corporate contexts.

KPMG brings a unique combination of expertise, experience, and technology to investigations where digital forensics, cybersecurity, eDiscovery, and data analytics intersect. Whether responding to cyber incidents, analyzing complex datasets for anomalies, or managing Electronically Stored Information (ESI) for legal and regulatory matters, our team delivers efficient, repeatable solutions that are customized to client needs.

This role provides an opportunity to be at the forefront of leveraging forensic technology to uncover insights, support legal proceedings, and safeguard corporate security interests, all within a collaborative environment driven by innovation and excellence.

What You Will Do

  • Assist with forensic investigations involving mobile devices, computers, servers, and cloud platforms.
  • Perform forensic imaging, data recovery, and analysis using industry-standard tools (Axiom, Cellebrite, EnCase, X-Ways, etc.).
  • Ensure proper chain of custody, evidence preservation, and legal admissibility throughout the investigation.
  • Document findings in detailed working papers and forensic reports as required.
  • Work with internal teams and clients to develop investigation plans, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and support cross-functional engagements (e.g., cyber investigations, data analytics, eDiscovery projects, etc.).
  • Support lab operations including evidence intake, preservation, and secure storage.
  • Maintain proficiency with emerging forensic technologies and contribute to process improvements and tool development.

KPMG Forensic Advisors may find themselves working on several engagements at any one time, reporting to several partners. Experience has shown that the requirement to travel in Canada or internationally on short notice may be involved with this role.

What You Bring To The Role

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma.
  • 2-5 years direct experience in digital forensics, including forensic acquisition and analysis of mobile devices, computers, and networks.
  • Preferred certifications include EnCE (EnCase Certified Examiner), CFCE (Certified Forensic Computer Examiner), CHFI (Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator), CCME (Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner).
  • Proficiency with Axiom, Cellebrite, EnCase, FTK, Nuix, X-Ways and other forensic platforms is an asset.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of forensic principles, chain of custody, evidence preservation, and legal admissibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple investigations simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience preparing forensic reports is an asset.

At KPMG, we are committed to fostering an inclusive recruitment process where all candidates can be themselves and excel. We aim to provide a positive experience and are prepared to offer adjustments or accommodations to help you perform at your best.
