Director of Legal Services and Risk Management at a Premier Consulting Firm

Korn Ferry has partnered with a nationwide premier planning, engineering & environmental consulting firm in a search of an experienced attorney to lead the legal and risk function. This company boasts a mature foundation, strong leadership, and stability, allowing its legal leader to focus on significant impact rather than organizational turbulence. As of 2025, the company employs approximately 1,000 individuals and generates revenue exceeding $200 million.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Legal Services and Risk Management is a highly visible leadership role. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with executive leadership, shaping enterprise-level business, legal, and risk strategy. This role is crucial for supporting organizational decision-making and driving performance across the entire company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all corporate legal functions and managing enterprise risk.
  • Providing strategic legal counsel to executive leadership.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Managing contractual and project-related risks.
  • Leading initiatives to protect the company’s reputation, safety, and financial success.
  • Providing oversight of professional liability insurance and engaging with external counsel as needed.

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive corporate counsel experience, including at least 10 years in a leadership role within an engineering professional services or related firm.
  • Extensive experience in risk management and professional liability insurance oversight.
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required; an additional degree in Risk Management or Civil Engineering is highly desirable.
  • Admission and good standing with a state bar.
  • Possesses a business-minded approach with the ability to align legal strategy with broader organizational objectives and operational realities.
  • Demonstrates a strong executive presence and high emotional intelligence.
  • Proven experience partnering with business leaders to negotiate contracts with customers, successfully closing deals, and managing change orders as required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with executives and operational teams, including paralegal/administrative support.

Location & Travel:

This position offers remote or in-office flexibility in Florida or Pennsylvania. Travel up to 15% is required.

Compensation:

The base compensation range is $200,000 - $300,000, complemented by a 20-30% bonus. There is no Long-Term Incentive (LTI) component.
