The Job

As we continue to grow, we are hiring a Controller. The KOMPAN Controller is an integral part of the Finance team and reports to the CFO. The role focuses on managing an accounting team, month-end and year-end close, sales tax compliance, reporting/analysis, banking, balance sheet reconciliation, asset management, and ERP systems management.

Responsibilities

  • Team Management: Responsible for a team whose day to day includes Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Staff Accountant duties.
  • Team Development: Responsible for ongoing, and strategic, professional development and mentorship of team members.
  • Continuous Improvement: Responsible for continuous process improvement and utilization of tools, such as AI, to improve team efficiency.
  • Lead Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead preparation of all required journal entries, including payroll and both recurring and non-recurring entries.
  • Accruals and Analysis: Lead month-end and year-end accruals, ensuring accurate financial analysis.
  • Commission Reconciliation: Prepare and reconcile commission calculations for direct sales representatives, agencies, and cooperative contracts.
  • Fixed Asset Management: Assist in managing fixed assets and ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations and all accrual and liability accounts.
  • Audit Support: Provide support for year-end closing and audit processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present monthly financial analysis and performance results.
  • Compliance Reporting & Filings: Lead and prepare all compliance related reporting and filings, such as: SUT, income tax, business licensing, banking and all other commercial compliance requirements. Acts a process leader when coordinating with various multi-disciplinary team members to ensure timely and accurate reporting and filings.
  • Cashflow Management: Responsible for monitoring cashflow and ensuring sufficient liquidity.
  • Ad Hoc Reporting: Support the CFO with various ad hoc reporting and analytical requests.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Invoice intercompany purchase orders and book/apply intercompany payments, confirming ending accounts payable balances.

Experience

  • 5+ years in a core accounting role required.
  • 4-year degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Solid experience with ERP systems, similar to/or direct experience with Navision.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong understanding of Excel.
  • A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communicator – verbally and in written form.
