About the Role
The Health Safety and Environment Lead provides overall HSE program leadership and guidance to field projects. This role is responsible for designing, adapting, implementing, and maintaining the company’s HSE management system while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Design and cultivate a behavior-based HSE culture.
- Implement and maintain the company HSE Management System.
- Develop and oversee standard work procedures and safety systems.
- Lead incident investigations and improvement initiatives.
- Manage safety training and toolbox meetings.
- Provide expert HSE guidance to project leaders and contractors.
- Travel to remote work sites as needed.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, oil and gas, mineral exploration, or mining is required, along with a diploma or degree in occupational health and safety or a related field. Preferred certifications include CRSP, CSP, or OHST. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of HSE issues, compliance requirements, and regulatory standards.
Additional Requirements
- Experience with safety programs, audits, and incident investigations.
- Wilderness first aid certification.
- Ability to guide supervisory staff through active listening.
- Sound knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation.
- Availability to travel to remote work sites, often for extended periods.
Employment Details
This is a full-time exempt position with a US base salary range of $125,000 to $165,000 USD.
Location
This role is remote. Candidates can be located anywhere in the United States or Canada, and must be legally authorized to work in these regions.
