Position Overview
As an Equipment Planner Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting Regional Construction & Mining operations. This position entails responsibilities related to the planning, scheduling, budgeting, utilization, and reliability of a large construction and mining equipment fleet. You will address both day-to-day and long-term issues concerning equipment fleets, with a primary focus on enhancing equipment reliability and implementing, monitoring, auditing, and managing preventative maintenance programs. The anticipated start date for this internship is May - June 2026.

Working with Kiewit Equipment Services (KES), you will contribute to ensuring the profitability of Kiewit projects. This is achieved through improved equipment utilization and mechanical reliability by providing world-class equipment and services.

Responsibilities
- Understand and comply with all federal, state, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Material handling and procurement.
- Create and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation.
- Conduct inspections of equipment and parts.
- Manage logistics and communication effectively.
- Engage in long/short range equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Process planning and paperwork to prepare for critical lifts.
- Utilize reliability and failure analysis data to enhance equipment availability and reliability.
- Establish and maintain communications between all levels of supervision and management.
- Provide support to craft maintenance technicians, including ordering parts, managing inventory, scheduling crews, and overseeing quality and safety.
- Undertake specialty projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
- Ability to work full time during one of the following semesters: January-May, May-August, or January-August.
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Diesel Technology, or Automotive Technology.
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environments.
- Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
- Strong work ethic, committed to getting the job done right the first time.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
- Passion for safety, with the ability to help ensure nobody gets hurt.

Compensation
The base compensation for this internship ranges from $15.00/hr to $23.00/hr. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skillset, and location.
