Position Overview

As a Contracts Administration Manager at Kiewit, you will lead the contracts administration function for major construction and engineering projects. In this role, you will oversee the development, negotiation, and management of contracts while ensuring compliance with legal and contractual obligations.

You will collaborate with project managers, legal, procurement, and client representatives to mitigate risks and support successful project delivery.

District Overview

The Eastern Canada District handles highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams, and industrial projects, serving the construction and mining industries.

Location

This position is based on our Union Station Project in Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the contracts administration team across projects.
  • Oversee drafting, review, and execution of contracts and subcontracts.
  • Ensure contract compliance and performance monitoring.
  • Provide strategic guidance on contract interpretation, dispute resolution, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
  • Manage contract changes, claims, and amendments timely.
  • Collaborate with legal, risk, and procurement teams.
  • Develop and maintain contract management systems and reporting tools.
  • Provide training and mentorship to contract staff.
  • Report regularly to senior leadership on contract status and risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in contract administration or management in construction or engineering.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, construction contracts (e.g., CCDC, FIDIC) and procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Certification in Contract Management (e.g., NCMA, CCCM, CPCM) is an asset.
