Software Expert, Operating Systems

Role Overview

Keystone Recruitment's client is actively seeking experienced software professionals with profound operating system expertise to bolster a high-priority data collection initiative. This crucial project collaborates with leading AI research labs, focusing on capturing realistic, expert-level software workflows. Your contribution as a Software Expert, Operating Systems will directly enhance how AI systems interpret complex operating system interfaces and multi-step professional tasks, playing a vital role in developing high-fidelity datasets for training next-generation AI models.

Key Responsibilities

• Record detailed screen sessions, narrating operating system workflows clearly at each step.
• Accurately annotate screenshots by drawing bounding boxes around relevant UI elements.
• Follow specific staging instructions to configure required UI states before recording.
• Utilize custom capture tools to ensure consistent and accurate workflow recording.
• Strictly adhere to task guidelines to maintain data quality and ensure downstream usability.
• Deliver high-quality outputs suitable for large-scale AI research and model training.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with at least one operating system, including Windows, macOS, or Linux.
• Proven ability to follow precise instructions and consistently meet stringent quality standards.
• Exceptional attention to detail and capability for independent work.
• Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Reliable access to a physical Mac and the ability to create a fresh macOS user profile if needed.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in data collection, annotation, or quality assurance.
• Experience in documenting or recording technical workflows.
• Comfortable working with new tools and staged environments.

Engagement Details

• This is a fully remote, asynchronous independent contractor role.
• Offers a flexible working schedule to accommodate your availability.
• Project duration is variable and may be extended based on performance and evolving project needs.
• Work encompasses screen recording, UI annotation, and comprehensive workflow documentation.

Compensation & Contract Terms

• Hourly compensation is aligned with task scope and expertise.
• Payments are issued weekly via Stripe or Wise.
• Engagement is strictly as an independent contractor, requiring no access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.
• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported at this time.

Eligibility

Applicants must be legally authorized to work as independent contractors in their country of residence.
