Role Overview: Software Expert, Operating Systems

Keystone Recruitment is seeking experienced software professionals with deep operating system expertise to support a high-priority data collection initiative for one of our clients, a partner to leading AI research labs. This fully remote, asynchronous contract role focuses on capturing realistic, expert-level software workflows to enhance how AI systems comprehend complex operating system interfaces and multi-step professional tasks. You will directly contribute to developing high-fidelity datasets essential for training next-generation AI models.

Key Responsibilities

• Record screen sessions demonstrating operating system workflows with clear verbal narration explaining each step.
• Annotate screenshots by accurately drawing bounding boxes around relevant UI elements.
• Follow provided staging instructions to configure specific UI states prior to recording.
• Utilize custom capture tools to record workflows consistently and accurately.
• Adhere strictly to task guidelines to ensure data quality and downstream usability.
• Deliver high-quality outputs suitable for large-scale AI research and model training.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with one or more operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
• Ability to follow precise instructions and consistently meet quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and capability for independent work.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Access to a physical Mac and the ability to create a fresh macOS user profile if required.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data collection, annotation, or quality assurance work.
• Experience documenting or recording technical workflows.
• Comfort working with new tools and staged environments.

Engagement Details

• This is a fully remote, asynchronous independent contractor role.
• Enjoy a flexible working schedule.
• Project duration may vary and can be extended based on performance and project needs.
• Work primarily includes screen recording, UI annotation, and workflow documentation.

Compensation & Contract Terms

Hourly compensation will be aligned with task scope and expertise. Payments are issued weekly via Stripe or Wise. This engagement is strictly as an independent contractor, with no access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution. Please note that H1-B and STEM OPT candidates cannot be supported at this time.

Eligibility

Applicants must be legally authorized to work as independent contractors in their country of residence.
