Role Overview

Keystone Recruitment is seeking a Software Engineer Scientific and Analytical to support a high-priority data collection initiative. This initiative is designed to enhance how AI systems comprehend complex software interfaces and real-world, multi-step professional workflows. The role primarily involves capturing high-fidelity screen recordings and precise annotations created by seasoned domain experts within actual software environments. The resulting data will be crucial for training and improving next-generation AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record screen sessions, clearly demonstrating assigned software tasks with step-by-step verbal narration.
  • Annotate screenshots by accurately drawing bounding boxes around relevant UI elements.
  • Follow detailed staging instructions to prepare specific software states before recording.
  • Utilize a custom capture tool to ensure consistent, high-quality workflow recordings.
  • Adhere strictly to task guidelines to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and usability.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Strong working knowledge of one or more professional analytical or scientific software tools, such as MATLAB, Origin, Stata, or EViews.
  • Ability to follow precise technical instructions with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Comfort working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while consistently delivering high-quality output.
  • Access to a physical Mac and the capability to create a fresh macOS user profile if needed.

Nice-to-Have

  • Prior experience in data collection, annotation, or quality assurance work.
  • Experience recording, documenting, or explaining professional workflows.
  • Comfort working with new tools and staged or controlled environments.

  • Screen annotations are precise, consistent, and fully aligned with project guidelines.
  • Screen recordings accurately reflect realistic, expert-level workflows.
  • Tasks are completed efficiently without sacrificing quality.
  • Collected data is scalable and usable for downstream AI research and development.

Engagement Details

  • Fully remote, independent contractor role.
  • Flexible scheduling; work completed on your own time.
  • Project timelines may vary by task phase.
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early based on performance and business needs.

Compensation & Contract Terms

  • Hourly compensation aligned with task complexity and expertise.
  • Payments issued weekly via Stripe or Wise.
  • Engagement is strictly on an independent contractor basis.
  • No access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work as independent contractors in their country of residence.
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
