About the Software Engineer, AI Research Annotation Role
Join leading AI labs as a Software Engineer, AI Research Annotation, applying your software engineering expertise to enhance AI model reasoning. This global remote role involves reviewing real-world coding tasks and meticulously documenting problem-solving processes to support the development of advanced AI coding capabilities.
Project Overview
The project focuses on creating structured datasets for advanced AI coding. You will work with authentic software engineering scenarios sourced from open-source repositories, capturing realistic developer thought processes to improve AI models.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Review AI-generated code trajectories on SWE-bench style tasks.
- Reconstruct step-by-step reasoning, explaining solution approaches.
- Annotate critical decision points, debugging strategies, and technical choices.
- Utilize full codebase context, including issues, tests, and pull requests, for accurate documentation.
- Ensure all annotations precisely reflect authentic software engineering practices.
Technical Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar programming languages.
- Demonstrated experience debugging complex codebases and effectively resolving issues.
- Familiarity with Git workflows, including pull requests and issue tracking systems.
- Ability to clearly and concisely articulate technical reasoning in written form.
Project Structure & Logistics
This is an independent contractor role, expected to last 1-2 months with opportunities for extension. Onboarding is immediate and includes a resume review followed by a 15-minute AI technical interview. The pace is self-scheduled within a weekly commitment of 15-25 hours (flexible up to 40 hours). Payment is processed weekly via Stripe/Wise.
Ideal Background
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science/Software Engineering.
- Experience contributing to open-source projects or conducting repository analysis.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycles and testing methodologies.
- Comfortable working with and interpreting technical documentation and specifications.
Success Profile
