Public Benefits Application Specialist
One of our clients is hiring Public Benefits Application Specialists to support a first-of-its-kind AI research initiative focused on real-world public services tasks. In this role, you will leverage your hands-on experience with U.S. social services systems to help train and evaluate advanced AI systems.

One of our clients partners with leading AI labs and enterprises to train frontier AI models using human expertise. This project focuses on improving AI systems’ ability to complete complex, real-life public benefits and social service workflows.
About the Role
As an Expert Contributor, you will design realistic, high-quality tasks that reflect how individuals apply for and navigate public benefits. You will create prompts, execute real-world workflows, and develop detailed evaluation rubrics to measure AI performance in nuanced scenarios involving public assistance programs. This is a fully remote, flexible contract opportunity with long-term project potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Task Design & Prompt Creation
- Identify common public benefit scenarios people seek AI assistance with
- Draft realistic prompts simulating user interactions
- Focus on areas such as applying for:
- SNAP
- SSDI
- Medicaid
- Affordable healthcare and mental health services
- Health insurance marketplace plans
- Task Execution & Documentation
- Complete workflows as designed
- Provide proof of execution and documentation
- Capture real-world friction points and edge cases
- Evaluation & AI Performance Assessment
- Develop structured evaluation rubrics
- Assess AI outputs against real-world standards
- Identify reasoning gaps, compliance risks, and misinformation
Working Model
- Minimum commitment: 10 hours per week
- Fully remote (U.S.-based only)
- Flexible schedule
- Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
- Desktop/laptop required (Chromebooks not supported)
Ideal Background
- Direct experience with U.S. public benefits systems or social services
- Knowledge of SNAP, SSDI, Medicaid, health insurance enrollment, or disability claims
- Strong written communication skills
