Senior Accountant

KeyBank is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to oversee accounting functions, financial reporting, and ensure adherence to regulatory and accounting standards within our securities brokerage firm. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills and proven abilities in analysis and problem-solving.

Essential Functions

• Perform general ledger activities, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end/year-end closing processes.
• Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives with management, operations, internal audit, risk management, compliance, accounting policy, and external auditors.
• Oversee and resolve suspense postings to facilitate smooth accounting operations.
• Respond to financial inquiries and provide financial analysis to support business decisions.
• Assist with the annual audit process by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Prepare external financial disclosures in compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Support the drafting and maintenance of internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Participate in special projects, including accounting impacts of new offerings, business changes, and system enhancements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in accounting operations.
• Utilize in-depth Excel skills for developing complex calculations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support KeyBank's policies and procedures.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.

Work Experience

4-6 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or Audit is preferred.

Skills

• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP; exposure to banking or financial instruments is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to various stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Compensation And Benefits

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $69,000.00 - $105,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
