Job Details

As a Culinary Associate II at Kettering Health Main Campus in Kettering, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality food services across retail areas, catering, and patient Room Service. This resource position involves varied shifts, ensuring our patients and customers receive exceptional culinary experiences.

Responsibilities

The Culinary Associate II performs essential food preparation and service tasks while upholding the highest standards of food safety and customer care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing basic food preparation and service tasks for retail areas, catering, ingredient room, and/or patient Room Service line.
  • Handling food in strict accordance with HACCP principles and all applicable food codes.
  • Safely using, cleaning, and caring for kitchen equipment and work areas.
  • Accurately managing position paperwork and processes, including order-taking, cash register operations, cash-ups, temperature monitoring forms for refrigerators/freezers and serving lines, weighing/measuring ingredients, Room Service records, tray time paperwork, and catering event documentation.
  • Following correct hand hygiene procedures, including washing hands after handling money and before handling food, and using gloves when handling ready-to-eat foods.
  • Utilizing appropriate scripting and responding effectively to patients and internal/external customers, employing the HEAL principle, describing coffee drinks and products, knowing ingredients and allergens, and promoting collaboration with colleagues.
  • Effectively and safely using position equipment, performing all applicable cleaning and sanitation procedures for items like coffee brewers, espresso machines, display equipment, grills, and fryers.
  • Correctly date-marking food items, monitoring for temperature control, and following First In First Out (FIFO) food storage procedures according to FDA guidelines.
  • Preparing, assembling, serving, cooking, or baking food and beverages per established guidelines and recipes.
  • As assigned, accurately handling cash and managing sales transactions through MyMicros software, maintaining accuracy within ± $2.00 at shift end, and processing credit and gift card transactions correctly.

Job Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess the following physical abilities and communication skills:

  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to push and pull wheeled carts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to tolerate frequent temperature changes and work around equipment that generates heat, steam, and cold.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Food Service or Customer Service experience.
