What We Do

The Senior Software Security Engineer is a key technical leader in our growing Security organization. Reporting to the Chief Security Officer (CSO), you will own and evolve Kentik’s application and software security programs, integrating security into the SDLC and shaping the company’s security posture while balancing risk, velocity, and developer experience.

What You’ll Do

• Secure SDLC: Evolve secure SDLC strategy and implement automated CI/CD security guardrails.
• Vulnerability Management: Lead analysis and resolution of high-risk vulnerabilities.
• Threat Detection & Response: Design automated detection and response playbooks; manage bug bounty and pen testing programs.
• Internal Tooling & Framework: Build and maintain internal security tools and platforms.
• Security Guidance and Enablement: Advise cross-functional teams on secure design and risk-based decisions.
• Training & Culture: Deliver role-specific security training and foster a security-aware culture.

What You’ll Bring

Applicants should have 5+ years of experience in Software/Security Engineering, professional experience in modern programming languages (Python, Go, Node.js), and strong familiarity with application security vulnerabilities, Linux, containers, and cloud infrastructures. Experience in threat detection, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership in technical security initiatives is key.

Nice to Haves

Experience with security metrics, remote work environments, and pre-IPO startup culture is a plus.

Our Tech Stack

Core data engine in Go; application serving with Node.js + Express; React for UI; and additional use of JS, Python, Postgres, Kafka, Mysql, and Redis. The environment leverages modern continuous integration tools like Jenkins and employs containers/Kubernetes.
