Job Description

Senior Frontend Developer at Kake

This Senior Frontend Developer role at Kake uniquely blends specialized email template engineering with broader platform UI development. You will be responsible for creating high-quality, reusable HTML components that render reliably across various email clients and devices, including comprehensive light/dark mode support. Concurrently, you will enhance the Growth Admin Portal, improving the user experience for internal teams.

While this is primarily a frontend position, we value engineers who possess a frontend-leaning skillset but are comfortable navigating full-stack environments. Ideal candidates can operate effectively within enterprise-scale, high-volume contexts, demonstrating strong ownership, autonomy, and clear communication across diverse teams. You should have proven experience operating with senior/veteran teams and the ability to drive execution in a fast-paced setting.

Core Requirements

  • 5+ years of front end engineering experience, with significant focus on HTML email development.
  • Expert-level knowledge of HTML and CSS for email, including table-based layouts and inline styling techniques.
  • Deep understanding of email client rendering quirks and cross-client compatibility strategies.
  • Proven experience implementing dark mode support in email templates.
  • Hands-on experience with email testing and rendering tools (e.g., Inbox Monster, Litmus, or Email on Acid).
  • Strong proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React preferred) for platform UI work.
  • High-agency, self-starter mindset with the ability to self-service most questions using AI and internal resources.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer and maintain HTML email templates and reusable components optimized for marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure consistent rendering across all major email clients (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Yahoo, etc.) and devices (desktop, mobile, tablet).
  • Implement and test light mode/dark mode compatibility across email templates.
  • Partner with the CRM team to translate creative briefs into production-ready email builds.
  • Conduct thorough acid testing via tools like Inbox Monster to validate rendering quality.
  • Optimize email templates for accessibility, performance, and deliverability.
  • Iterate and improve upon the UI of our first-party communication platform (Growth Admin Portal).
  • Collaborate with Product Design and CRM teams to identify opportunities to enhance platform quality of life and user experience.
  • Implement frontend features that streamline campaign creation, configuration, and management workflows.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet the needs of internal platform users.
  • Work closely with the CRM and Marketing teams who own lifecycle communications.
  • Partner with the notifications team to support scalable notification delivery.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Growth product teams to support growth use cases.
  • Support international and country-specific teams with localized email template needs.
  • Document email template patterns, component libraries, and best practices.
  • Establish and maintain coding standards for email HTML development.
  • Share knowledge on email development innovations and emerging techniques with the broader team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with enterprise CRM/ESP platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Iterable, Braze, or similar).
  • Familiarity with CDPs such as Hightouch, Auxia, Epsilon, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Golang, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
  • Understanding of email deliverability metrics and optimization strategies.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards for digital communications (ADA/WCAG compliance).
  • Experience in fintech, crypto, or high-growth tech companies.
  • Experience building internal tools and admin portals.
  • Background in design systems or component library development.
