Job Summary
This internship offers exciting opportunities for students to join the Salt Chemistry, Fuels and Materials teams during Summer 2026. Interns gain hands-on experience while contributing to innovative technology addressing climate change.

General Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering teams on projects and research
- Apply technical skills in laboratory and field settings
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation
- Support process design, development, and safety initiatives
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and project documentation
- Participate in team meetings and technical reviews
- Engage in training, mentorship, and learning opportunities
- Prepare and deliver presentations on project findings
- Assist with troubleshooting and equipment maintenance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Applicants should be currently enrolled in a B.S, M.S, or PhD program in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field. Demonstrated application of technical skills outside the classroom is highly preferred. Experience with engineering software (MATLAB, AutoCAD, Python), experimental design, data analysis, and Microsoft Office is beneficial. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
This role may require long periods of sitting or standing, moving between worksites, and handling laboratory chemicals. The work environment is fast-paced and demands accuracy and safety.
Safety and PPE
Interns will be required to read and interpret hazardous signs, handle chemicals safely, use proper PPE, and report equipment or safety issues. Experience with handling substances like Beryllium (Be) is noted.
Compensation
The hourly wage for this internship ranges from $28 to $32 for positions at the Alameda, CA headquarters. Actual compensation may depend on education, experience, and other relevant factors.
