Role and Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist at Juul Labs, you will thrive in a hybrid role, working closely with business stakeholders, other data scientists, and data engineers to uncover key trends and KPIs. Your primary focus will be on strengthening conviction in decision-making across Juul Labs. You will be responsible for designing robust, reusable, and scalable data solutions and data mining frameworks to automate analysis, leveraging tools like DBT, BigQuery, Hex, Vertex AI, and Tableau. The role involves building models to analyze diverse organizational datasets, with a significant emphasis on commercial sales and execution data.

You will partner and collaborate with Data Engineers on large-scale engineering projects, spanning the entire data lifecycle from source ingestion to modeling and mining. Working in an agile environment using Trello, you will develop new systems and tools to enable stakeholders to intuitively consume and understand data. Additionally, you will create and establish design standards and assurance processes to ensure compatibility and operability of data connections, flows, and storage requirements, helping Juul Labs stay at the cutting edge of data technology.

Personal and Professional Qualifications

• 5+ years of data science experience
• Demonstrated experience translating complex analytical findings into clear business recommendations
• Proven ability to independently drive data science and engineering solutions
• Advanced knowledge in using Python and SQL for data analysis over large-scale datasets
• Skilled in using Python libraries and packages (Pandas, Polars, PyArrow) in conjunction with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery)
• Comfortable working on AI pipelines (Vertex AI)
• Knowledge of bash/shell and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) is preferred
• Experience with version control (Git) and containers (Docker)
• Skilled in analytical SQL in support of data modeling/transformations and manipulating multiple data formats (dbt)
• Foundational expertise in deploying and maintaining machine learning pipelines is a plus

Education

• Bachelor's degree required
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent experience preferred
