Project Specialist - Just Right Reader CLSD Research and Innovation Project
Just Right Reader is a forward-thinking curriculum provider committed to advancing literacy for students from Birth through 12th Grade. Our comprehensive resources are designed to support all learners, including upper-grade students requiring additional intervention to develop foundational skills. Grounded in the Science of Reading, our high-quality materials and tools equip educators with the support they need to accelerate achievement and foster lifelong readers.
Position Overview
The Project Specialist supports the successful execution of the Just Right Reader CLSD Research and Innovation Project, a multi-year, state-level literacy initiative. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day project operations, supporting communication across stakeholders, and ensuring the timely completion of project activities and deliverables. The Project Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining organization, tracking implementation progress, and supporting research coordination, data collection, and reporting efforts aligned with ESSA evidence requirements. In addition, this role may support coordination of other Just Right Reader research and evaluation initiatives as needed. Preference will be given to candidates based in Wyoming to support coordination with in-state activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Operations
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities across implementation and research phases.
- Maintain detailed project plans, timelines, trackers, and documentation.
- Monitor progress toward milestones and escalate risks or delays as needed.
- Coordinate logistics for project activities, including trainings, site visits, and meetings.
- Support coordination of additional research or evaluation projects aligned to Just Right Reader's broader research and innovation portfolio, as assigned.
Stakeholder Communication & Coordination
- Support communication between Just Right Reader, the state department of education, participating districts, and our research partners.
- Schedule and coordinate recurring meetings (e.g., monthly coordination meetings, quarterly leadership sessions).
- Prepare agendas, document meeting notes, and track action items.
- Ensure timely follow-up on communications and deliverables.
Implementation Support
- Assist with onboarding and coordination of participating districts and schools.
- Support logistics for professional learning, including Science of Reading Academy sessions, coaching, and webinars.
- Coordinate distribution of instructional materials and resources.
- Track district participation and engagement.
Research & Data Collection Support
- Assist in coordinating data collection activities in collaboration with the research partner.
- Support research implementation activities, including tracking study timelines, cohorts, and participation.
- Maintain organized records of implementation data, participation metrics, and communication logs.
- Support adherence to data collection timelines and research protocols.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and project updates.
Reporting & Documentation
- Support the development of quarterly, mid-year, and annual reports.
- Maintain documentation of project activities, deliverables, and outcomes.
- Ensure records are organized and accessible for internal and external reporting.
Continuous Improvement & Quality Assurance
- Monitor implementation fidelity indicators and flag potential issues.
- Collect and organize feedback from districts and stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement efforts across implementation and research activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, project management, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project coordination, program support, or operations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in K–12 education, literacy initiatives, or education research projects.
- Experience supporting research studies, program evaluation, or data collection efforts (e.g., coordinating assessments, surveys, or implementation logs).
- Familiarity with grant-funded or multi-district initiatives.
- Experience coordinating professional learning or events.
- Experience working with data tracking systems or project management tools.
