Role Description:
We are looking for a licensed U.S. immigration attorney to serve as Attorney of Record — but this is not a traditional law firm role. Your focus will be on two things: legal strategy and final review. Our paralegals and ops team handle draft letters, document collection, and full case assembly. You come in to ensure the legal strategy is sound and that every petition is airtight before it goes out the door. This means you can do more of what you're actually good at — and less of the administrative grind. That said, we're a startup, and we move fast. We're looking for someone who's adaptable, excited about building something from the ground up, and genuinely wants to grow with us — not just clock in and review files.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attorney of Record: Sign and take legal responsibility for immigration petitions, including O-1A/B, EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, E-2, L-1, and H-1B filings.
- Case Strategy: Analyze client profiles and define the legal approach for each case, working closely with our ops and paralegal teams who execute from there.
- Final Petition Review: Review completed evidence packages and petitions assembled by the team, ensuring legal accuracy and compliance with USCIS standards before submission.
- RFE Strategy & Review: Provide legal direction and final sign-off on responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and other government correspondence.
- Legal Guidance to the Team: Serve as the internal legal reference for our paralegals and ops team — answering questions, flagging risks, and keeping cases on the right track.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state (required).
- Immigration Experience: Demonstrated experience handling O-1, EB-1A, EB-2 NIW, and/or other employment-based immigration matters.
- Strong Written English: Ability to review and provide feedback on legal briefs and communicate clearly with a cross-functional team.
- Tech-Friendly: Open to working within modern tools and AI-assisted processes — we leverage technology at every step.
- Startup Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity, fast iterations, and wearing different hats when needed.
The Ideal Profile:
- Detail-Oriented: You catch what others miss. Deadlines are sacred to you.
- Collaborative: You work well with a cross-functional team and don't operate in a silo.
- Proactive: You flag issues before they become problems and take ownership of outcomes.
- Growth-Oriented: You want to be part of something bigger — not just a vendor, but a real stakeholder in what we're building.
- Mission-Aligned: You genuinely care about helping talented people navigate a broken system — and you want to be part of fixing it.
Location & Compensation:
This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere. That said, we believe in the value of in-person collaboration — the role includes occasional meetups for strategic planning and team building.
Compensation: $9,000–$12,000/month (Contractor), depending on experience and workload
Stock Options plan: $30,000 grant — 1-year cliff, 5-year vesting
Workload: Open to part-time (50%) or full-time — we're flexible on the right person
Location: Remote
