The Assistant Superintendent supports daily on-site operations, assists with trade coordination, material tracking, and safety compliance. This role requires strong organization, document control skills, and the ability to cover for the Superintendent when needed.Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the Superintendent in managing daily site operations, including trade coordination, material tracking, and safety compliance
- Maintain proficiency in all fields of document control tools and processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Track procurement items from submittal through delivery and site installation
- Apply knowledge of JRM safety procedures and protocols, enforcing compliance on site
- Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, design comments, and communicate relevant information to the appropriate parties
- Supervise designated trades and work areas within the project scope
- Cover the jobsite in the Superintendent’s absence, identifying and resolving safety or project issues with subcontractors and building staff
- Prepare and manage construction administration tasks such as submittal and RFI processes, meeting minutes, progress tracking, and safety paperwork
- Coordinate building access, delivery schedules, and site logistics
- Communicate clearly and professionally with multiple stakeholders, adapting messaging for varied audiences
- Utilize construction software and Microsoft Office tools to support project documentation and communication
- Serve as an assistant to one Superintendent on small to medium projects, or as part of a team supporting multiple Superintendents on larger projects
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in commercial construction, preferably interior or high-end renovation projects
- Proficient in reading and interpreting commercial construction plans and specifications
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification required
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively on site
