Job Summary
JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Senior Lead Architect to join their Merchant Payments team within the Commercial Investment Banking organization. This role involves developing high-quality architecture solutions for software applications and platform products, driving significant business impact, and shaping the target state architecture across multiple domains.
Job Responsibilities
- Engage with business and technology stakeholders to propose design approaches for current and future business initiatives.
- Build trusted relationships with decision-makers to provide business and technical thought leadership.
- Identify opportunities for platform modernization alongside business initiatives.
- Define strategy, product roadmaps, and technical delivery plans.
- Define and drive the achievement of the product's target state.
- Participate in architecture governance bodies.
- Evaluate recommendations and provide feedback on business needs and market entry options.
- Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond conventional approaches.
- Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
- Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs and technical credentials.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5 years of applied experience.
- Strategic mindset in shaping digital transformation for the payments business, including digital onboarding, self-servicing for clients, and partner integration.
- Strong experience in web developer frameworks, web architecture, and mobile frameworks.
- Strong experience with APIs, including API standards, functionality, and governance.
- Strong experience in Identity and Access Management, including partner integration via APIs or web.
- Strong understanding of acquiring/merchant services payment processes.
- Experience with in-store or e-commerce merchant payments.
- Ability to understand business requirements, create designs, develop technical delivery roadmaps, and possess technical know-how.
- Strong technical background with design and delivery experience using software patterns and principles.
- Advanced knowledge in one or more software, applications, and architecture disciplines.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, AI, ML, mobile).
- Experience as a functional architect (business/product).
- Experience with domain models, understanding business process flow, client experience, and use cases.
- Understanding of business capability and features taxonomy.
