Global Research - EMEA Emerging Markets Economics - Research Assistant

Join a dynamic team at the centre of global macroeconomic and market developments. As a Research Assistant in the EMEA Emerging Markets Economics team at JPMorganChase, you will gain exposure to a wide range of economies and work alongside experienced economists and strategists. This is an opportunity to develop your analytical skills, contribute to impactful research, and collaborate within a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support senior economists in analysing specific economies and global trends.
  • Liaise with economists and strategists to formulate views and assist with publications.
  • Work with data sets and databases, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain and improve spreadsheets and data processes.
  • Compile and update chartbooks and templates for weekly, monthly, and ad hoc publications, including EM Edge data watch and Global data watch.
  • Assist internal sales and trading personnel with data requests as needed.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and intellectually stimulating team culture.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Good knowledge of economics, with experience in analysing macroeconomic data.
  • Experience working with data sets and databases.
  • Ability to work meticulously and independently with large spreadsheets and databases.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Good understanding of political, economic, and business developments.
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in macroeconomics and markets.
  • Collaborative attitude and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with statistical programming languages or packages (e.g., Eviews, Python).
  • Familiarity with data platforms such as Haver DLX or Bloomberg.
  • Master’s degree, preferably in Economics or Finance.
